Timothy
Huang's Testimony
I am as abnormal as any other
church kid you will find. I was born in Foochow, China. My mother,
a Christian, was married into an agnostic household, and bore me
late in 1981. I grew up Christianity-ignorant until I came to the
states in march of 1991 when I first started attending a church
of which my mom was a member. I developed quite a dislike for church
partly because it cut into my Sunday morning cartoons, but mostly
I felt like the black sheep of the group. So, I went to church off
and on.
Aunt Mary came to Los Angeles
in 1993 to receive treatment for her breast cancer, and was staying
with us. She was a dear lady who loved the Lord. She read her Bible
all the time, sung hymns in our backyard garden, prayed often. She
was relentless in sharing the gospel with me. She wasn't worried
that the cancer was eating her up, that chemo was painful, that
she's going to die soon, that she may never see her two daughters
again, but she made us her family and in everything, in thanksgiving,
she petitioned the Lord. And the peace of God guarded her heart
and mind during the treatments. I saw that peace and love in her,
and it was beautiful. Aunt Mary passed away May 15, 1994. And I
professed my love for Jesus later that year; my two birthdays being
six days apart. Though I cannot pinpoint the date of my salvation,
I am confident that He who began a good in me is perfecting it still
until the day of Christ's return.
"Let no one look down
on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith
and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe."
